KJVKing James Version (met Strong’s)
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
ULTunfoldingWord Literal Text
looking away to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of the faith, who, for the joy that is placed before him, endured a cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
USTunfoldingWord Simplified Text
We need to focus on Jesus, the one who enables us to trust God at first and then to do so until we die. He himself persevered when he died on the cross, and he did not care that he died shamefully. He acted in those ways because he knew that God would make him joyful afterward. Now, he is with God the Father, where he sits on the throne and rules.
WEBWorld English Bible
looking to Jesus , the author and perfecter of faith , who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross , despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God .
ASVAmerican Standard Version (1901)
looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
DARBYDarby Bible (1890)
looking stedfastly on Jesus the leader and completer of faith: who, in view of the joy lying before him, endured [the] cross, having despised [the] shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
